tshabala- a nations hero

going in order from most important days in my year it goes a little something like this: 1) world cup opening games 2) Christmas 3) birthday. and the fact that my number one day was yesterday, i am quite excited to say the least. and actually in a couple hours there will be even more excitement (ofcourse i will tell you about this later).
so today- the 2010 fifa world cup began in south africa. with the home team having not lost in the opening game for the last 19ish world cups, south africa had a huge test going against mexico, a team ranked much higher in the world rankings. so pretty much the game was slow to begin with... south africa came out and played not too well... not passing much which gave mexico tons of chances early on in which they obviously could not cash in on.
halftime 0-0.
ok then the game continued and suddenly SA was a brand new team... passing the ball around nicely and actually having attacking chances... occasionally testing the all-white mexican keeper.
54th minute. tshabalala strikes.
a breakdown of the mexican leaves tshabalala a chance to rip a shot from about 10 yards out into the upper right hand corner of the goal. brilliant in my opinion, led by an entertaining celebration by a few of the south african players. (number 8 is tshabalala in the picture above)
ok the rest of the game was kinda bad because i dont like mexico and they ended up scoring.
second game of the day:
France vs Uruguay
ended in a tie 0-0.
the game was in all honesty, not that exciting. despite the incredible talent on the field they all seemed to lack a chemistry with one another, leading to only a few chances the entire game with relatively sloppy play.
in summation: today was riveting and action-packed from start to finish. not really, i pretty much layed in bed all day and watched soccer. life is good.
for now,
soccerball
ps. possible world cup post tomorrow!! another exciting day. many games to watch including a reenactment of the revolutionary war.

fly through my window
talent.
dictionary.com defines it as a special natural ability or attitude.
talent is a funny thing. first of all- does everyone have a talent? because sometimes it seems like talented people have MANY talents, and untalented people have none at all. how the hell is this fair?! in my perfect world, everyone would have one incredible talent- something they were better at than anyone else. now i do believe that everyone is really really good at something, whether they were born with this talent or learned it by practicing. but how long does it take to spot this talent? for example, some kids figure out what they're good at right away, and get to work practicing it even more until it becomes second nature to them. other people may not figure out what they are truly talented at until middle age, or even after that. i also believe that our talents make us special, and, if possible, we should use our talents to better our lives and the lives of the people around us. clearly not everyone does this- but when most people figure out that they're good at something- they run with it! (and they should)
ok here's my point. i feel like im gonna be one of those people that doesn't discover my talent until age 70+. or maybe i'm one of those RARE cases where i have ZERO talent for anything! ( i don't think that's the case, clearly i'm pretty good at rambling. maybe i should be a writer. on second thought, good writers don't ramble. scratch that idea) basically what i'm trying to say is, everyone is good at something. right? i think so. but to be honest, i'm not really good at much. i'm mediocre at some stuff, but i have little talent for anything important. i think i should make it my goal in life to find something i'm truly good at and run with it. for the greater good, of course. and to show off.
this is the very un-talented tie dye saying“I have no particular talent. I am merely inquisitive.” (okay einstein said that. but it got me thinking. maybe i need to ask more questions....)
